Katie Horn, MT-BC

MUSIC THERAPIST

Katie was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She began her musical journey at the age of three when she joined her church’s “Precious Moments” choir. Katie was involved in multiple vocal and instrumental ensembles in middle and high school, participated in a variety of musicals, and began formal voice lessons in her senior year of high school.

Katie was introduced to music therapy as a freshman in high school, when a local university student delivered a presentation about music therapy during Katie’s chamber ensemble course. She planned to go to medical school throughout her early life and continued to hold onto this plan until senior year, when she took an extracurricular music therapy course and was inspired to continue her life with music. Katie went on to study music therapy at Purdue University Fort Wayne. While studying, she was involved in the University Singers and once had the opportunity to sing on stage during Hugh Jackman’s US tour. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in music therapy in the fall of 2021, then completed her clinical internship between Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital and Dynamic Music Services from April to October of 2021.

Katie has worked with a variety of populations throughout her school experiences and internships, and feels a draw to the relationships formed in music therapy more than to any specific clientele population. Outside of work, she is also passionate about cooking, baking, and her ever-growing collection of houseplants. Katie is excited to be able to continue working with the amazing team of therapists at Dynamic Music Services as she begins her journey as a board certified music therapist!
