MUSIC THERAPIST & MUSIC THERAPY CLINICAL SUPERVISOR

Emily is a native of Bismarck, North Dakota. She was involved in auditioned community children’s choirs as well as school music programs growing up and trained in ballet for 17 years. She received her Bachelors of Music in Music Therapy summa cum laude from the University of North Dakota where she worked with a variety of populations, from newborns to older adults. While there she was a member of the Concert Choir, which toured to Havana, Cuba, and co-founded and served as first president of the student organization Autism Speaks U UND.

Emily completed her clinical internship at Children’s Hospital New Orleans, working as a part of the inpatient rehabilitation team. She collaborated with physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, child life specialists, recreational therapists, physicians, and nurses to work with children and young adults with a variety of needs, including traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, neuromyelitis optica, and medical complications due to non-accidental trauma. She also provided music therapy interventions bedside in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric ICU, Cardiac ICU, Children’s Medical Unit, Cancer Unit, and Respiratory Unit. Emily is looking forward to providing music therapy services to the Indianapolis area.
